Andreas CAS #6 (A) Learning Outcome 1

Andreas Cantu  This weekend I went to play some golf with my dad. Although my dad does not hit with me I always appreciate hearing what he has to say about how my swing looks despite his limited knowledge of the sport.  The morning started off okay, a few good hits here and there but nothing to feel great about. I spent about 2 hours just swinging and trying to improve my form and locate my weaker areas with my swing. I started to feel very discouraged because I could seem to hit the ball well at all. I took a step back and just told myself that it's okay and this is how I get better. With that in mind, I started to feel much better and enjoyed the day even more. Even though I wasn't hitting too well I still had some absolute beauties. This day of practice really helped me understand what I need to work on and that it's okay to make mistakes, because that's how you learn.

Andreas CAS #5 (A) Learning Outcome 5

Andreas Cantu  Over the weekend I spent time with my old friend from Upper Elementary. He texted me out of the blue and asked if I wanted to come over for the night, I promptly agreed and in just a few hours I headed to his house. When I got there I said my hello's to his dad, two dogs, and younger brother. I got my stuff in his room put down my phone and we headed out to the park. At the park, all four of us engaged in a game of wall ball, at it's best wallball is a free for all ball game with running throwing, and catching. I started off the game by instantly losing 1 of 5 lives and it wasn't getting any better from there. I realized the only way to stay alive would have to been teaming up with my friend's younger brother so I could attempt to eliminate him first. This took some trial and error but we finally got into a groove and started chipping away at his lives until he was tied with me. Even though at the end I lost, without the teamwork that was put on display ...

Andreas CAS #4 (C) Learning Outcome 3

Andreas Cantu  When school started I reached out to a friend of mine to see if he wanted to join me in the creation of a brand new club at our school. After some back and forth we decided on the Speech Club. We began immediate planning in anticipation of our first meeting in the coming weeks, this required a small marketing campaign and club activities planning. During the club fair, we managed to pull in 7 prospective students, we discussed our intentions for the club and encouraged them to officially join the club when the time comes. After a few more days of planning, we sent out the official email and waited for everyone to join. The first meeting was filled with a chatty group of 4 people including myself. Despite the small numbers I would have to say that it was actually quite fun, we talked about many different speeches and watched a few as well. It was a great experience and I loved the process of planning this club.

Andreas CAS #2 (C) Learning Outcome 4

Andreas  This past week I have been challenging myself to get a better understanding of what is going on around the world. When I entered high school I began understanding the importance of foreign affairs and how they affect people all around the world. It was difficult when I was a freshman to understand what everything meant and how a war in one country can affect a country 1000 miles away. When I decided to do global politics in my junior year I knew that I would have to step up my game and do research on my own so I can prepare myself for the coming school year. I began reading a lot more about what is going on around the world and I saw a major increase in my understanding of foreign affairs. Two weeks ago when we started Global Politics in school I knew there will be topics we will go over that push my understanding to its limits. So this past week I challenged myself to commit to reading about foreign affairs for thirty minutes every day in preparation for my first of...

Andreas CAS #3 (S) Learning Outcome 2

Andreas  As high school began, I managed to get right back into the swing of things, with turning in assignments and participating in a seminar I felt perfectly fine. My brother, however, was a different story, this past week my brother had been struggling with figuring out how the dynamics of high school worked especially with it being online this year. Even though I too was a little confused I had a much better understanding of how our school works compared to my brother. I decided that I would try to set some time away to help him figure things out, at first he was getting mad at me and my "teaching" style, but as I kept trying I found the best way to teach about our school. We went over his classes and even some of his homework. Helping my brother reminded me of how I felt when I first entered high school and how much I wished I had someone to help me figure it out. Even with the setbacks, we had in the beginning I managed to successfully help my brother figure out how t...
