Andreas CAS #14 (S) Learning Outcome 4

Andreas Cantu  This past week was Thanksgiving break. Like most people in America, I spent my break at home seeing only my family and just a few friends. With the Christmas season upon us and with the break, I took the opportunity to help my dad at his store. With it being a shipping center of sorts, there is always more business in this part of the year, with this in mind I thought it would be a perfect time to learn how the store operates and help my dad where ever he needed it. My task was to individually put packages into the system and ready for shipping, to say this was tedious would be an understatement, I truly was beyond frustrated with the simplicity of this task, but it was okay because I stuck with it and after nearly 3 hours I had finished the task and simultaneously learned how to operate the point of sales system. Even though there is always more to do, I know that my dad was grateful for the work I did do, because during this time of the year I know he can use...

Andreas CAS #13 (A) Learning Outcome 1

Andreas Cantu  This past Thursday I spent playing golf with two of my friends and the dad of one of them. I was very excited to join them for a day of golf, however, I was not ready to play with a dad. Although I love to play golf as much as I can, it does not mean I am good at golf. I have certainly gotten better as the years have gone by, but there is still so much that I need to work on. So, the idea of playing with an experienced and intimidating golfer kinda worried me. At the very first hole, I hit an absolutely atrocious shot from the tee box, and I feared that the worst was still to come. While I was very nervous during our time with the dad, he was very helpful and gave tips at almost every hole, so I began warming up after just a few holes. Besides my nerves in the beginning the whole experience was really fun, we played the entire 18 holes and while I still never played too well, I acknowledge many places in my game that I will need to work on the better myself as ...

Andreas CAS #12 (A) Learning Outcome 4

Andreas Cantu  On this past Friday, a group of students and myself attended the Houston Open. A 4-day long golf tournament consisting of some of the best players in the world, looking to get some competitive practice in a week before the masters. This was the first time I had ever attended a golf tournament, and I was so excited. It was so cool to see all these famous players playing against each other for the ultimate golf respect. Making the commitment to attend the open meant I had to email the teachers of the classes I was missing to let them know I would be absent, I also had to make sure I had done all the work for the classes so I would not receive and 0s. However, the biggest commitment/challenge of the open was the physical exertion that came out as we walked a little over 5 miles that day. The hot sun and large course, certainly made for a challenging day, it was a small price to pay to see the players and have this experience. I was so grateful we got this chance a...
