Andreas CAS #11 (A) Learning Outcome 1

Andreas Cantu  On Friday, I met up with some friends to play volleyball at some sand volleyball courts. It was a brisk Firday and we decided it was the best day to go through with our plans to dominate the courts, there were 8 of us and it was a lot of fun. We started off splitting the teams into 2 teams of 4 then began the match. No matter how split up the teams it was pretty evenly matched with the scores virtually the same for the whole time. Playing these games helped me understand my areas growth and I made sure to practice them the whole night and I even began to see improvment within 10 minuets of  starting to practice them. The night was going really well and we even got to play against some people we did not know for the court. Unfortunatley we caught the L, but they said we could play again so we tried even harder to prove our dominance on the court, unfortunatley, we lost once more a called it a night. This was a great day and I am very happy I went. It gave m...

Andreas CAS #10 (S) Learning Outcome 7

Andreas Cantu  Yesterday was the most tired I had ever felt. I woke up at 4:30AM left for school at 5 AM and started setting up for the school-wide garage sale at 5:30 AM. It was a constant movement for 13 hours straight and I simply wasn't prepared for it. This whole thing started when my mom decided to organize a school-wide garage sale to raise money for our school. My brother and I had been going to school for the past two Saturdays to help unload items and organize the items. The day had finally come and the garage sale was ready for everyone. My friend and I took the role of loaders and carriers, this meant we were on our feet for a large portion of the time helping people take stuff to their cars and then proceeding to load into their cars. I never really considered how much we were going to be moving before I decide to take that part, and man I wish I did. For most of the day, it was pretty much the same thing, but there were a few moments that made me get in touch wi...

Andreas CAS #9 (C) Learning Outcome 2

Andreas Cantu  This past week I have been listening to a lot of 90s Hip - Hop. Groups like A Tribe Called Quest and Wu-Tang clan are timeless and have inspired many people years after their final album. For me, I have always loved their sounds and lyrics. This week in particular I had a sudden feeling to write something, however, I wasn't sure what exactly it was I wanted to write. Then it hit me, I wanted to write a 90s Esque rap song. Now, this was not a simple challenge, I needed to take a lot into account for example the flow. in the early 90s, there were very few people rapping at the speeds done today, so this song needed to be slower while maintaining its essential funk and groove needed to make it a success. It took me about 3 hours to write roughly 20 words and I realized this will take easily a month. This is okay because all good things take time to perfect and I am confident that I will certainly perfect this piece of lyrical perfection.

Andreas CAS #8 (S) Learning Outcome 5

Andreas Cantu  Over the past weekend, I volunteered to help my mom collect items for a school-wide garage sale. Originally I was leaning towards staying home and enjoying the early Saturday morning, however, something inside me told me I should go and help her. Man am I happy I did, the collection started off kinda slow, but after an hour or so people were coming every other minute. These people were not just dropping off a few boxes of clothes, but instead, cars filled to the brim with all sorts of things ranging from earrings to TVs to car seats. I was so happy that I went to help because my mom would have been there twice as long and still wouldn't of finished. My brother and I were in a constant state of motion during this outing, every time we put one item away, two more showed up and there seemed to no stop in sight. Sure enough, after roughly five hours at the school, we finished and left. This experience was a great reminder to me that I need to help my mom as much as...

Andreas CAS #7 (S) Learning Outcome 6

Andreas Cantu  About 4 weeks ago I joined an organization created by a former student from my school called Students for Refugees. They work to educate the issues that refugees, immigrants, and migrants have to go through every day. I found out about this club on accident while scrolling through social media. The idea of the club was very fascinating to me, so I decided to join without thinking about it twice. When I joined the virtual meeting for the first time it was very good to see my old friend even if I didn't talk to him. He began with an introduction to the club and thanked everyone for attending. After the introductions, he started the formal presentation about refugees and gave a lot of background information so we could understand what he was talking about. I was very excited that I joined this group because I know that it will help further my understanding of the issue and allow me to have thoughtful discussions on this topic.
