Andreas CAS #10 (S) Learning Outcome 7

Yesterday was the most tired I had ever felt. I woke up at 4:30AM left for school at 5 AM and started setting up for the school-wide garage sale at 5:30 AM. It was a constant movement for 13 hours straight and I simply wasn't prepared for it. This whole thing started when my mom decided to organize a school-wide garage sale to raise money for our school. My brother and I had been going to school for the past two Saturdays to help unload items and organize the items. The day had finally come and the garage sale was ready for everyone. My friend and I took the role of loaders and carriers, this meant we were on our feet for a large portion of the time helping people take stuff to their cars and then proceeding to load into their cars. I never really considered how much we were going to be moving before I decide to take that part, and man I wish I did. For most of the day, it was pretty much the same thing, but there were a few moments that made me get in touch with my ethics/morals. The first time this happened was when a lady wanted to tip us for helping her get stuff to her car, as much as we wanted to take the money we had to understand that as volunteers we are he to help without anything in exchange. This happened about three other times and each time we wanted to take it, but we knew what the right decision was and decided to make it.

Andreas CAS #29 (A) Learning Outcome 1

 Andreas Cantu  This past weekend I spent time with some friends up in Lake Livingston. One of my friends has a house on the lake and is perfect for a weekend getaway. While I had typically gone up there with a specific group of people, this time the group was mixed up a bit due to scheduling conflicts and I was very pleased with the outcome. I got to spend some more time with people I don't typically see on the weekends. With the house being located on a lake it meant we would be spending a lot of time out on the water engaging in a multitude of different water sports such as kneeboarding, wakeboarding, skis, and tubing. While I had done most of these sports in the past, skiing was one I had never done before. So after I received a minute-long explanation on how to properly ski across the water I was ready to go. It took a couple of tries but by the end, I had acknowledged the areas that need more attention and I had strengthed my overall skills.

Andreas CAS #1 (A) Learning outcome 1

 Andreas Cantu  This past week I have been challenging myself by learning how to improve my jump roping skills. As quarantine dragged on I noticed as my cardio was lowering the heat was rising by the day. This unfortunate combination of events discouraged me from running. As summer was coming to an end I was introduced to the Jump Rope. While I have used jump ropes before I never had the chance to spend long periods of time improving my skills. Thanks to my previous experience with Jump Ropes I wasn't going in blind, but I knew I had areas for growth. I started very slow only doing 20 - 30 jumps at a time and slowly increasing the speed and jumps. After 1 week of jumping, I saw a drastic improvement in my cardio and leg strength. After having a great experience with Jump Roping I was curious if it was any better than running or if I was doing damage to my joints. I found out that Jump Roping at a steady pace is better than running an 8-minute mile and benefits your entire body...

Andreas CAS #26 (s) Learning Outcome 7

 Andreas Cantu  This past week I returned to Westbury Little League to continue my umpire volunteer work, and while I had originally started this for my personal NHS project, once my required hours were completed I made the decision to return till the season ends. So far, I am very glad that I made this decision as I have continued to learn more about how to properly umpire a game both in the field and behind the plate. However, I was recently faced with a decision that required me to really think about my morals and what I think is the right thing to do. Because I had finished my required volunteer hours, I was now eligible to be paid for my work with the league. Naturally, I would always take money for the work that I do, however, I felt the obligation to continue my tenure with the league as an unpaid volunteer and let the money that would be given to me get put back into the league. I am happy with the decision that I made and I hope to continue to learn more about the art...
